WHAT WE DO

We plan, organise and deliver projects for young people
Our project planning team looks at creative and innovative ways of engaging young people. Through consultation with young people we pin point the need and then offer solutions based on the feedback collected. This has resulted in young people led initiatives and driven projects.
We organise resources around the projects and initiatives we plan to deliver. Targeting appropriate funding with SMART aims and objectives enables us to carry out our project based work.
With a more than adequate delivery team, at Rap-Aid we continuously deliver fresh, innovative clear cut projects that suit young people and communities. Our project delivery teams consisting of Project managers, facilitators, contract session workers and volunteers ensures the planning and organisation of a project culminates in a fun and entertaining young people led and community driven project.

  • We plan, organise and deliver music festivals. We plan, organise and deliver music festivals, community festivals and celebrations of young peoples accomplishment and achievement.
    Festivals include:
    Letchworth Garden City Music Festival (2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007)
    Royston Youth Music Festival 2008
    Jackmans’ Community Festival 2008
  • We run Youth football teams and training sessions
We currently have 7 youth football teams playing in various youth football leagues in London under the Rap-Aid youth football club banner. Ranging from Under 7 up to Under 14, the teams are supported with regular training sessions by in-house FA level 1, FA level 2 and UEFA badge coaches.
The teams train during the week, indoors during the winter months and outdoors in the warmer months. In addition to the teams we also provide training sessions during the school half term and 6 week holiday periods.
  • We set up young people driven clubs
Through consultation with young people we have helped set up venues and premises for young people.
With a focus on Letchworth Garden City, we helped the initial set up of youth clubs on The Grange estate as well as on Jackmans estate. In partnership with the Jackmans Improvement Group we also started and ran the Jackmans Junior Youth Club targeted at 5- 12 yr olds.
We currently run a youth facility at Mrs Howard Hall in the centre of Letchworth Garden City, open as a youth facility from 6pm - 9pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Comprising of a Mac & Logic based Music composition and recording studio, a multi station computer area/ internet cafe, a soft seating lounging area with games consoles and a widescreen TV downstairs as well as an upstairs multi games hall with pool, junior snooker and table top soccer tables and a soon to be installed film viewing facility for film nites this provides young people with a venue for a variety of activities throughout the year.
  • We empower young people by promoting youth advocacy
We empower young people by promoting youth advocacy and help develop young people by supporting them in airing their views and having an impact on their environment. We partnered the local district authority North Hertfordshire District Council (NHDC) in planning and organising North Hertfordshire Young Peoples Question Time 2007 and North Hertfordshire Young Peoples Conference 2007. We also aided in the initial development of the Letchworth Youth Council and presently support and help manage the Royston Youth Council.
  • We aid and support young people in choosing and following a career path.
We support young people in making career pathway choices either by signposting them to appropriate providers or helping them work through their available options. This is achieved through dialogue with young people, partners and sometimes (by permission of the young person) with parents / guardians.
  • We exist as a support network for young people
We exist as a support network for young people, either in their present state or going through a period of change.
Young people are constantly evolving and go through periods of change as they become more aware of themselves, their minds, their environment and their circumstances. We try to provide young people with the tools that will enable them to make the right choices and decisions. We also signpost young people to other agencies that might be able to serve their needs better.
